What do you need me to do?
If you own property that contains a structure that you wish to protect from foundation damage I will explain how
the property is built and how the soil affects the structure. I will examine the structure for movement (cracks and unevenness)
and show you the cause. Foundation movement is usually caused by too much water or too little water…sometimes both.
Too much moisture when it rains, too little when we have periods that are hot and dry. To limit the movement
of your home you must remove excess water during rainy seasons and keep the soil hydrated during long periods of little or
no rain. It is a little trickier than it sounds, but I will show you how to understand the process so you can get it done
correctly and I will do it in plain English.
If
the home is already showing damage, I can, in most cases show you how to stabilize and often reverse the damage.
Selling a home? I show you what needs to be done to protect
you and the buyer.
Buying a home? I make sure you understand
the risk of foundation damage, if any, and how to maintain the property correctly.
Looking at having foundation work done? I will help you understand what you really need. Explain
the problems and the solutions. Are you heaved (don’t need piers?) or have you settled (may need piers?)
If you need piers, How many? What kind? Home much should they cost? How do you find a reputable contractor? How do
I keep from getting the wrong type of repair, too many piers or pay to much? I can help you with all that
plus if you have drainage issues, I will let you know how to properly correct them.
When I leave you will understand how the home was built, how it has been affected, what to
do about it, and how to get it done correctly without getting cheated. If you have bids I will review them. If you get bids
later you can email or fax them to me and I will evaluate them for you at no extra cost.
We, you and I, will make sure that any foundation issues you have or may have will be handled
correctly and as inexpensively as possible.
My
goal: preventing you from getting screwed by the foundation companies.
