With over a hundred foundation contractors in North Texas there is a lot of room for scams. The most common scam would be overpiering. This can cost thousands of extra dollars and still often result in failure. Another problem is overcharging for shoddy materials. Still another is placing piers on a structure which is already above grade and need the soil to dry before any piering is attempted. Chemicals injected into the soils or grouts pumped under the slab are other forms of "repair" that seldom work in our soil. When you get several estimates, as you should, you will probably receive contrasting stories as to what will work best for you. The estimates will be based on the estimator/salesman's experience, his products or the services he sells, what he thinks will work and the amount of money he thinks you will spend. That is his job. It is your job to do due diligence and, when bids are conflicting, find out which quote makes sense. I can help you with that and likely save you money, or get you a better job or both.
